Letter: Stress academics, not sports

Corning's academic priorities should include consolidating the grade, middle, and high school superintendents' positions, halving administrative staffing, and using the freed resources to strengthen vocational and college entrance academics.

Appointing both an academic and a vice principal is a waste of academic tax dollars.

With three quarters of college entrants from Tehema County deficient in high school math, science, and language skills, it would be beneficial to de-emphasize sports and emphasize academics.

Having both an academics and a sports director doubles taxpayer costs, with no improvement in academics.
