Adobe Day returns
The annual "Adobe Day" will run from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at Ide Adobe State Historical Park, located about 1 mile north of Red Bluff on Main Street.
The event features historical hands-on, traditional 1850s traits such as spinning, doll-making, candle-making, and much more. There will be merchandise for sale in the general store and home-baked goods and iced drinks, as well as hot dogs and chips. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children 4-11.

Items needed for trip fund
A rummage sale is being planned for the traditional Washington D.C., trip made available for Corning eighth-grade students. The sale is slated for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 2, in the parking lot of Maywood Junior High School.
For anyone in the community who would like to donate clean and/or good-condition items, students can pick-up such items starting at 8 a.m. Saturdays Aug 21, Sept. 11 and Sept. 25.

Quilters take care
The August meeting of the Sun Country Quilters Guild is 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, at the Red Bluff Community Center, 1500 South Jackson St., Red Bluff.
Guest speaker Dr. Kremer will present information on how to sew for many hours and still take care of the neck, shoulders, and back. There will also be fabric and quilting supplies from other quilters made available for purchase.
Guests are welcome to attend the meeting for $5 or join the guild for a half-year membership of $15.

Children needing families
All couples and individuals interested in adopting children are invited to attend an adoption information meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 520 Cohasset Road, Ste. 100 in Chico.
There are thousands of children in California waiting for adoptive families and families interested in children, sibling groups and minority children are needed. This meeting will discuss services available and financial assistance for adoptive families.

Olive drop returns
Corning Rotary is hosting the Olive Drop once again during the Corning Olive Festival, Saturday, Aug. 28, at Woodson City Park. Numbered olives are dropped 45 feet onto a target below, closest olives to the bull's eye win ticket holders prizes.
Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5, and can be purchased at All State Insurance, Bank of America, Butte Community Bank, City Hall, Crane Mills, Edward Jones, US Bank, the Law Office of J. C. Olander, Napa Auto Parts and Premier West Bank.
Ticket proceeds help with scholarship and community projects.
Social benefits museum house
The Kelly Griggs House Museum will have its summer social at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, on the grounds of the 1880 Victorian house, 311 Washington St., in Red Bluff.
Donations of $5 will give participants a guided downstairs tour and an ice cream sundae.
There will also be free olive oil tasting, live musical entertainment groups, a bounce house and art, photo and craft exhibits.
Grilled hamburgers, soft drinks and water will also be available for purchase with proceeds going towards the Foundation Replacement Fund.
Mobile service aids veterans
The nonprofit Disabled American Veterans will have their mobile service office on hand to answer questions about veteran benefits and services from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Aug. 30, at the Red Bluff Veterans Hall, 735 Oak St., in Red Bluff.

Sales support scholarship
Help support the Lance Utterback Scholarship given to police students attending Butte College.
All proceeds from Chico Outlaw tickets, made available through Dean Utterback, will go toward the scholarship fund. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling 824-5909.
Chico Police Officer Lance Utterback passed away in 2006 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Remember farmers market
First Fruits Farmers Market is 5-7 p.m. every Friday in the parking lot of New Life Assembly Church on Solano Street. Anyone is welcomed to set up their own booth or table at no cost. For more information, call 736-1702.
