Letter: Proud to be an American

The burning desire of men and women to progress in a forward manner is the driving force within all of us. To be the best at everything we do. We learn at a very young age, that giving only half of what we have to offer is not enough.

Time and time again we are told to push ourselves beyond what we perceive is our limit. There are many paths to choose from in life, but no matter what path we may choose, it is our intention to be the best.

We are Americans, and we set the example for the rest of the world. And most people don't see it that way. We just do the best we know how and keep on pushing on.

But now we have elected Sen. Barack Obama. It is my belief that the fact that Sen. Obama is an African American has very little to do with the encouraging strength that this brings the American people. I think now we feel like we are Americans, and we shall lead by example.

After all, we are the United States of America. We are the best, and we will change the way the world perceives their limits. God bless America
