Crime Brief: July 28
Kentucky man found dead in car
Law enforcement is trying to piece together vague clues concerning the homicide of a Kentucky man found dead in Bend.
On Monday, July 26, at 6:12 a.m. deputies arrived at Saron Fruit Colony just west of Jelly's Ferry Road north of Red Bluff after receiving a citizen's report of a man slumped over the steering wheel of a red 2008 Dodge Magnum parked in the middle of the rural roadway, stated the Tehama County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies found the man, Larry Arthur King, 66, of Radcliff, Ky., dead in the driver's seat with trauma to his upper torso that appeared to be the cause of death, the Sheriff's Office reported.
Crime scene investigators from the Redding field office of the California Department of Justice responded to the scene to assist in the investigation.
It appears King had been in the county visiting family and was last seen leaving around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, said deputies.
An autopsy was conducted Tuesday at a facility in Yolo County, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Events leading up to King's death are not completely known by law enforcement, which is seeking the public's assistance in gaining information concerning this incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Tehama County Sheriff's Det. Dave Hencratt at 529-7920.
