Briefs: Phone presentation for seniors planned
Corning Senior Center will hold a phone presentation at 11 a.m. today for people who have difficulty hearing, seeing the numbers, dialing or even getting to the phone specialized equipment.
Boy Scouts picking up paper
Leave newspapers by the curb before 9 a.m. Saturday and the Corning Boy Scouts Troop 5 will pick them up.
In case of rain, they will pick them up on Feb. 9.
If outside the city limits, take your papers to Specialized Fibers on South Avenue, just west of the railroad tracks.

Play date for horsemen
The first winter play date of the Desperado Horse Club has been set for Sunday at the Glenn County Fairgrounds in Orland.

Safe and Sober raffles available
Corning, Orland, Hamilton and Willows jigh schools are holding their annual Safe and Sober raffle.
Tickets are $10. Prizes include a Hawaii getaway, a San Francisco weekend, two tickets to see the S F Giants, a day at Thunder Hill, a home/car security system, a Mendocino ocean front vacation and cash prizes.
Contact the schools to purchase tickets. Drawing will be held Feb. 9.
Relay for Life planned
Teams are forming now for the Relay for Life 2013 on April 27-28.

Also, a bowlathon will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Feb. 10 at Java Lanes, 2075 Solano St.

Red Bluff Elks set fundraiser
The Red Bluff Elks are holding a spaghetti dinner from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Saturday at the lodge at 355 Gilmore Road. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for a child. A silent action will be held.
