Valanne Cardenas, manager of the Corning Chamber of Commerce

Chamber Chat: Jan. 27

Spotlight gives attention to special cause

Corning Chamber of Commerce's member spotlight is on The American Cancer Society located at 754 Mangrove Ave. in Chico; ph. 342-4567.

The chamber would like to highlight one of the society's programs which is coming up soon, the "Daffodil Days Program," which raises funds and hope for all people facing cancer.

The American Cancer Society message is:

"This long-standing fundraising campaign celebrates the Society's mission to eliminate cancer as a life-threatening disease by offering daffodils to donors in appreciation for their contribution. Everyone from school children to corporate CEOs have the power to make a difference for cancer patients and their families. By giving daffodils, we have the power to give hope.

As the first flower of spring, the daffodil is the American Cancer Society's symbol of hope.

A 10" oatmeal-colored Boyds ™ by Enesco plush bear, named Birthdays R. Hope, has been created exclusively for the American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days to help communicate that a world with less cancer is a world with more birthdays. "Bear and a Bunch" can be ordered for a donation of $25 and sent along with a bouquet of 10 daffodils.

In addition, you can purchase a bunch for $10, a bunch in a Sunshine vase for $20, or two bunches in a Vision vase for $35.

The last day to place an advanced order is Feb. 26; the daffodils and "Bear and a Bunch" products will be distributed March 24. Dollars raised through Daffodil Days campaign will help the American Cancer Society fund cancer research, provide up-to-date cancer information and education, and provide services that improve the quality of life for patients and their families".

For more information about Daffodil Days contact the American Cancer Society at (530) 342-4567, (prompt 3).
