Chamber welcomes two new members

Delivering happiness for 20 years
Corning Florist, 1124 Solano St., is the chamber's Business Spotlight for the week. Charlotte Moore is owner and operator of the business with her daughter Theresa, who works along side her.
Charlotte has owned the business for the last 20 years and has been a member of the Corning Chamber of Commerce for almost as many.
They are a member of the wire service which enables people from all over the United States and the world to receive flowers or to order flowers for someone here in Corning.
Their motto is, "We Deliver Happiness." They create flower arrangements for weddings, funerals, birthdays, etc. They also have real and silk plants, stuffed animals and other gifts.
Charlotte and her husband will have been married 28 years in October, They have two children, and eight grandchildren. Charlotte and her husband love to travel by car to see wild animals, flowers and beautiful scenery. They have traveled in every state in the United States except Alaska.
Corning Florist will be open Feb. 14 for Valentine's Day so if you would like to order flowers call 824-4311 or stop by the shop.
Local fun hosted by many friends
The Corning Friends of the Library are hosting "Corning in the Morning" at 8 a.m. Feb. 11, at the Corning Library, 740 Third St. Breakfast goodies, coffee, and the chance to win a door prize, during the business card drawing, are just part of the fun. "Corning in the Evening" will not be held this month.
Lessons on keeping a healthy marriage
New Life Assembly, 660 Solano St., will be hosting a marriage seminar, "Building an Emotionally Healthy Marriage," Feb. 12-14. The seminar begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, with a meal and teachings. Saturday's teachings are from 9 a.m. -7 p.m. and three meals are included. There will also be a give-a-way weekend for one couple at a Tahoe resort. Tickets are $75 per couple. Soup's on for valentine gala
The Paskenta Community Hall will have a Valentine's Soup and Salad Dinner and dancing with the Cottonwood Band at 6 p.m. Feb. 13. Tickets can be purchased at the Flournoy Country Store and from Emily Murphy. Tickets are $10 per person; children, 5 years old and younger, eat free. The menu includes Clam Chowder and Mexican Meatball Soup, salad and bread, dessert, coffee, tea and punch. Desserts may be provided by anyone attending.

New Life Assembly, 660 Solano St., will begin holding a monthly business luncheon starting Feb. 23. Doors will be open at 11 a.m. at the Sweet Life Café located in New Life Assembly and lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. After lunch, Mike Daugherty, a national trainer will provide a free, 45-minute training session on the new "Red Flag" compliance rules which go into effect June 1. He will also address what local business owners need in order to obtain some of the President's Reinvestment Act funding to assist their business. Details: 824-3426.
