Letter: Corning's a mess, so let Kimbrough go
Regarding Corning City Manager Steve Kimbrough:
My husband has been wondering why the trailer business site on Highway 99W has not progressed any further, and I have often wondered why it was not possible to even buy sewing supplies in town until the Quilt and Craft Shop became a reality. We were also very disappointed that Wal-Mart did not materialize and are quite tired of having to drive out of town to buy many mainstay items.
A friend from Flournoy and I were in Chico a couple weeks ago and decided to stop at Golden West Homes to look at the latest. There we learned that a very large sum of money had already been spent in building fees and taxes, etc., and the project here in Corning had barely gotten off the ground. (Until that day, I did not know who was putting in the business at that site.)
One of our sons and his twin boys have had to leave Corning because they could not find work. That has impacted us as we now have two properties to take care of in our retirement, and right when home prices are in a terrible state.
After receiving informational cards from Concerned Citizens, we thought it over and we feel that, since it doesn’t appear the city manager is doing his job that he deserves to be let go. (We do not know why a city this size needs one anyway.)
We do not know Mr. Kimbrough or anything about him, but our city should be in much better shape than it is.
