Corning Chamber of Commerce reports: June 3
Corning Chamber of Commerce update
Olive Pit still a family-run business
The Olive Pit is our business spotlight of the week. The Olive Pit, 2156 Solano St. in Corning, is open from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily. They have been in business and a member of the Corning Chamber of Commerce since 1967 when Pete and Ann Craig displayed a few olives on the shelf of their frosty stand.
Today, the Olive Pit is still family owned and operated. Ann comes in to check things out on a daily basis and Pete and Ann's son, Ron Craig, is the general manager. Their daughter Bonnie is the warehouse manager and granddaughter Hannah and her husband, James Boeldt, have joined the company too.
A huge remodel of the business is just about finished. They have improved the entire front of the building with a beautifully upgraded tasting bar and café area. The Olive Pit will still offer their famous burgers and milkshakes as well as some great new menu choices. They will be adding a delicious breakfast sandwich option to go along with their espresso and coffee drinks. They are expecting a June 15 opening of the café phase, so come by and see what they have done.
At 5:30 p.m. June 11,
Round Table Pizza will host the monthly Corning in the Evening meeting at their location, 680 Edith Ave. This chamber event is an opportunity for you as a chamber member to mix and mingle with other members. Whether you are a business member or an organization, it is a great way to learn what is going on in the community and to find out what the host has to offer.
If you are interested in hosting a Corning in the Evening in the future, (July and August are taken), please speak to chamber staff, Valanne Cardenas or Angela Polanco. You may also call 824-5550 to set a date. The host that month will be featured as the Business Spotlight for the monthly newsletter.
If you want to get in on the chance to win up to $10,000 at the "Golden Ticket" drawing July 4, you may purchase your ticket here at the Corning Chamber office, 1110 Solano St. Tickets are $100. The drawing is being conducted by the Red Bluff-Tehama County Chamber of Commerce to help underwrite the chamber's efforts to stage a spectacular Fourth of July fireworks show, previously sponsored by the Red Bluff Volunteer Fire Department. The show will be at 9:45 p.m. July 4 at the Tehama District Fairgrounds, culminating a daylong Heritage Days Celebration of events, attractions, and activities for the entire family.
