Business Spotlight - Our Business Spotlight for the week is Corning Truck & RV, "One of the Oldest Local Businesses, 47½ years." Their business is located at 3525 Hwy 99W and is owned by Bill and Barbara Boot. In speaking to Barbara for this article we discovered that they are retiring and a truck wash has bought the property (AAA Truck Wash). Bill and Barbara started with a radiator shop February 1, 1961. In 1966 they added truck repairs and became Corning Truck & Radiator. In 1980 they opened at the present location with 9600 sq. ft. and became an International dealer. In 1997 they added a second building for RVs. The name was changed to Corning Truck & RV, although they were incorporated as Corning Truck & Radiator Service, Inc. The south half of their seven acres was sold to Speedco.
Barbara said, "It has been a very good business for us. Challenging at times, but we have wonderful employees and our customers really love our employees". Corning Truck and RV have 11 employees including two of their children. Jim who runs the parts department, and Patti Fountain who works in outside parts sales who also works part-time at Curves as a dietician, will soon be working full-time there. Corning Truck & RV will be shutting its doors July 15 and there will be an auction on August 12 that will be both physical and online. Murphyauction.com will be handling the auction. They will be selling all office furniture computers, tools, parts, vehicles, equipment, etc. The Corning Chamber of Commerce congratulates Corning Truck and RV for a long and successful business and we wish you well in your retirement.
