Crime Reports: Man accused of indecent exposure

A 68-year-old Corning man was arrested by Corning police at 12:19 p.m. on Monday when he was reportedly found sitting naked inside a maroon vehicle in the Round Table Pizza parking lot on Edith Avenue in Corning.

Gordon Ray Canny was booked into the Tehama County Jail on suspicion of indecent exposure. Bail was set at $3,000.

Attack on man

Russell Wray Rodgers, 32, of Red Bluff, was arrested at the Burger King restaurant on Antelope Boulevard in Red Bluff on Monday evening when he reportedly slammed a 74-year-old man in the face with a bathroom door, according to Red Bluff police.

The attack knocked the victim to the floor, at which time police said Rodgers hit him with the door a second time.

Rodgers was booked into the Tehama County Jail on suspicion of harming an elderly person and assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm. Bail was set at $80,000.

Baby carriage stolen

A Stihl week trimmer, Wagner airless paint sprayer, double baby carriage and car parts valued at $650 were reported stolen from a residence on Olivewood Avenue in Corning.

James Chamberlin told Tehama County sheriff's deputies someone entered the residence by forcing open the garage door sometime between Nov. 20 and Sunday.

Vehicle pursuit on Highway 99

A pursuit on Highway 99W in Los Molinos was called off for safety reasons when speeds reached in excess of 130 mph, the Tehama County Sheriff's Department reported.

The chase started when deputies tried to make a traffice stop on a black BMW at 11:18 p.m. Sunday. Deputies reported the vehicle accelerated to more than 100 mph and the vehicle's lights were turned off.

The BMW traveled into Butte County, reaching speeds of 130 mph on the highway, at which time deputies terminated the pursuit.

Deputies said they were not able to get close enough to get a license plate identification or see the driver.

Felony arrest for meth

Approximately .5 grams of methamphetamine and a syringe were seized when Tehama County sheriff's deputies contacted Jason Brotherton, 35, of Gerber, and learned he was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court.

The incident took place at 2:34 a.m. Monday on Sherwood Boulevard near Josephine Avenue in Los Molinos, the department reported.

He was arrested and booked into the Tehama County Jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $23,000.
