Corrie recognized for 50 years in education

Donald Corrie, curriculum consultant for the nine Northern California counties, was honored on Oct. 23 by Tehama County Superintendent of Schools Larry Champion, with a plaque recognizing his 50 years of dedicated service to, and inspirational energy for, education. Corrie was an elementary school teacher in Chico for 15 years before being hired by the Tehama County Department of Education as a math consultant in the 1970's. Career highlights include serving as the Lead Project Consultant in 1995 for the Tehama County Standards Project and being asked in 1999 to chair the annual curriculum conference by the state Curriculum and Instruction Steering Committee; serving as a lead editor/writer of the nine countys' courses of study. His retirement on a Friday in 1998, is also a highlight - a humorous one. Following the party, it lasted two days before he returned to work full-time again on Monday.
