Remembering farmers' mart
First Fruits Farmers Market is 5-7 p.m. every Friday in the parking lot of New Life Assembly Church, on Solano Street. Anyone is welcomed to set up their own booth or table at no cost. For more information, call 736-1702.
Recycle those electronics
Televisions, computer equipment, microwave ovens and other small electronics can be turned in at the electronic waste collection event held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 31, at the "Park and Ride," corner of Solano and Third streets.
Live bands at pool park
Free, live music is tentatively scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 31, Northside Park, 1400 block of Colusa Street. Music featured is pop/rock with acoustic guitar.
Hamburgers and hotdogs will be available for purchase and proceeds will go toward the Corning Community Foundation. Bring lawn chairs.
This is a community service sponsored by the CCF, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the re-opening of Rodgers Theater. Event is co-sponsored by Round Table Pizza and Vallejo Gas Station.
Give your business an edge
A Tehama County Technology and Social Marketing series for businesses has two remaining workshops scheduled from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4., at the Red Bluff Community and Senior Center, 1500 S. Jackson St., Red Bluff.
The workshops address businesses using Web sites and social networking through the use of Twitter and Facebook. The fee is $20 per workshop.

Getting along in the workplace
Workshop "Conflict Resolution in the Workplace" takes place from 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at the Tehama County Job Training Center, 724 Main St., Red Bluff.
Speaker Traci Montgomery, with 25 years experience in human resource management, will cover such subjects as listening techniques, identifying conflict resolution styles and the dynamics of team work.

Items needed for trip fund
A fundraiser rummage sale is being planned for the traditional Washington D.C. Trip made available for Corning eighth-grade students. The sale is slated for 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Oct. 2, in the parking lot of Maywood Junior High School.
For anyone in the community who would like to donate clean and/or good-condition items, students can pick-up such items starting at 8 a.m. Aug. 7 and 21, and Sept. 11 and 25.
If interested in having donated items picked up, call 774-6006.
This is a student-sponsored event; Maywood Junior High School is not directly affiliated with this group.
Local photos exhibited
The Tehama County Photo Club is sponsoring an opening reception for the exhibit, "Images from a Glass Eye," from 5-8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13, at The Big Picture, 857 Washington St., Red Bluff. This 2010 international, juried photography show will be presented through Sept. 10, and will be juried by Sean Arbabi - professional photographer, author and instructor. Dinner set for Friends of NRA
The Tehama Chapter of Friends of the NRA will hold its annual fundraising dinner at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13 at Rolling Hills Casino, 2655 Barham Ave.
The event is $50 per person with half of the proceeds raised going towards Northern California shooting sports, youth programs, public safety and local ranges.

Workshop addresses exposure
A photography workshop, "The Universally Tough Subject of Exposure," will take place Saturday, Aug. 14, prior to sunrise at 5:30 a.m., in Ide Adobe State Historic Park, 21659 Adobe Road, Red Bluff.
Professional photographer and instructor Sean Arbabi - following the morning shoot - will move the class to another location to go over such topics as exposure and post-processing techniques.

Fair promotes children services
Corning Youth Fair will take place 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the Northside Park.
Any business wishing to run a booth, is encouraged to contact Carol Curry at 824-7670 or e-mail ccurry@nvcss.org.
The is no charge to be a part of the fair, but participants are asked to donate a backpack containing school supplies for the Youth Fair Raffle.
Booths should provide an opportunity to share educational literature for parents and/or an activity for children.
Besides the booths, there will be fun activities, performances, food, prizes and free swimming in the afternoon, sponsored by the Corning Rotary.
Sign up for memorial tournament
The Tucker Mesker Memorial Tournament will be Aug. 14-15 at Yost Park. Ten men softball teams are needed. Entry fee for each team is $250. ASA bats only.

Be the next city ambassador
With the Olive Festival right around the corner, contestants are being sought after for the Miss Corning Program which will take place on Saturday, Aug. 21, the weekend before the Olive Festival Week.
Miss Corning serves as an ambassador for the City of Corning throughout the year attending ribbon-cuttings, parades, dinners and other events.
Anyone from the ages of 16-18 years old interested in running for Miss Corning may contact Sonya Akers at 736-1702.
