Chamber Chat: Dec. 9
Spotlight has plans to branch out
Corning Furniture & Gifts (formerly known as Tri-Counties Furniture) is the Corning Chamber of Commerce's business spotlight for the week. Jodie Hughes, owner and operator has moved her furniture business from 1102 South St. to 1223 Solano St. where the former M&M Motors Parts store was located.
Jodie wanted to be in the new location in time for Hometown Christmas, held Nov. 21 and she made it. The store is now open from 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Saturday through Tuesday. The phone number is 824-2204.
The store has household furnishings that comparatively average around twenty-five percent less for the majority of items. Most items are made in Northern California and one company does custom sofa sets. Her mattresses are handmade in Sacramento.
The store has 8,000 square feet, so Jodie plans to utilize the space by adding a sandwich shop and also a feed store in the back area in the next month or two. The feed store will be geared toward 4-H members, where they will be able to get discounted prices on feed.
Jodie is married with three children, who are 4-, 6- and 8-years old. She enjoys riding her horse when she can find time, and they also have 20 pigs that they are raising for sale.
