Ensign Ryan A. Ross, 2008 U.S. Naval Academy Graduate, received his "Wings of Gold" from U.S. Marine Corps Colonel J. S. Walsh on Feb. 12, 2010, in Milton, Fla. Ross completed his training with Air Wing Five at the top of his squadron and also received the Commodore's Award of Merit for his superior performance in both flight syllabus and academic curriculum during advanced phases of the Navy's Flight Training Program. Of the more than 600 students - completing naval helicopter training annually - only the top ten percent of students receive this award.

Upon completion to his training, Ross reported to the Naval Air Station, North Island in San Diego where he will fly the Navy's MH-60 R Sea Hawk.

Ross is a 2001 graduate of Corning Union High School and the son of Becky and Greg Ross of Richfield.
