Auction to help youth
American Legion Post No. 45 will hold auctions today to raise money for youth projects.
The silent auction starts at 10 a.m., and the live auction kicks off at 11 a.m. at the Corning Veterans Memorial Hall, 1620 Solano St.
Hot dogs, chips, punch and coffee will be served for $3 donation.
Tree-pruning workshop offered
The University of California Master Gardeners Program is offering a fruit tree pruning workshop from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. today at Mills Orchards, 7782 County Road 16, just west of Hamilton City.
There is a $20 registration fee.

Richfield resident meeting
The Richfield Neighborhood Watch group will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at Richfield Elementary School.
The Tehama County Sheriff's Office will be in attendance with log reports and any concerns since the last meeting.

Firewood cutting restricted
Cutting firewood on the Eagle Lake Ranger District of the Lassen National Forest will be suspended starting Tuesday.
The closure helps to prevent damage and ruts from being created in roads and meadows. The area is expected to reopen in May or June.
The Almanor and Hat Creek ranger districts will remain open to woodcutting.

Dr. Bradley Smith, an orthopedic surgeon, will be discussing osteoarthritis, joint pain and the latest treatment from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Red Bluff Community Center, 1500 S. Jackson St. There is no cost.

Bunco for a great cause
The Corning DC Kids are holding a Bunco Nite from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Maywood Middle School cafeteria.

Volunteer fire spaghetti feed
Orland Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its 58th annual spaghetti feed from 11 am.-8 p.m., Feb. 2, at 810 Fifth St.
The cost is donation only. There will be a cake auction, silent auction and raffle. All proceeds will be used to purchase rescue equipment.

4-H Fun Night is Feb. 2
The 4-H Fun Night is scheduled for 4 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Feb. 2 in the auditorium of the Tehama District Fairgrounds.
There will be games, a silent auction, Polynesian-style Teriyaki dinner and entertainment.
McConnell grants available
The McConnell Fund will award grants in the spring and fall to Tehama County organizations in the area of arts and culture, children, youth and education, community vitality, environment, health care, recreation, and social services.
Grant requests for the spring cycle must be postmarked by 5 p.m. on March 6.
