80th Birthday: Kathy Jackson

With a little help from the staff at Casa Ramos, Kathy Jackson celebrated her 80th birthday with some of her family and friends. Being the life of many a party, Kathy has been like a mother to her nieces and nephew and is know as Grandma Kathy to their children and grandchildren. Always being a positive force in her family, despite her personal loses, many wanted to let her know how much she is loved and to wish her a "Happy Birthday!"

Kathy was born on June 18, 1928 in Wilmington, Calif. as Kathern Broege. She attended schools there and then moved to Torrance where she worked as a telephone operator. In Torrance, she met and married Jerry Jackson. They traveled quite a bit because Jerry was playing for a pro baseball team out of Del Rio, Texas, but they eventually settled down and moved to Kirkwood in 1956. There they raised their three children, Vickie, Johnnie and Kelly. Her two grandchildren are Josh and Brandy Jackson.

Besides working for Nostalgia and Olive's Inc., Kathy also tried to keep up with her husband Jerry's horse racing business. During the 70's and 90's when her son and grandson played for Corning High School, respectively, many may have heard her old cowbell ringing after an exciting play.
