Live bands at pool park
Free, live music with "Rebekah Callahan & Friends" is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 24, Northside Park, 1400 block of Colusa Street. Music featured is pop/rock with acoustic guitar.
Hamburgers and hotdogs will be available for purchase and proceeds will go toward the Corning Community Foundation. Bring lawn chairs.
This is a community service sponsored by the CCF, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the re-opening of Rodgers Theater. Event is co-sponsored by Round Table Pizza and Vallejo Gas Station.
Local church is barbecuing
Los Molinos United Methodist Church is holding its annual "Barrel Chicken Barbecue" from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, July 24, corner of Sherwood Boulevard and Josephine Street.
The menu will also include potato salad, coleslaw, pork and beans, dessert and beverage. Entertainment will be provided by "The Jammers" from the Red Bluff Methodist Church and from Robert Christison from the Los Molinos Church.
Meal donations of $7 for adults, and $3.50 for children 10 years and younger, is being asked. Tickets can either be purchased at the door or by calling 384-2305, or 384-2100.
Learn about adoption
All couples and individuals interested in adopting children are invited to attend an adoption information meeting from 7-9 p.m. Monday, July 26, 520 Cohasset Road, Suite 100, in Chico.
There are thousands of children in California waiting for adoptive families and families interested in children, sibling groups and minority children are needed. This meeting will discuss services available and financial assistance for adoptive families.

Chinese students say farewell
Students from the Chinese Student Exchange Program will host a farewell presentation from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at New Life Assembly, 660 Solano St.
The group of 54 students, ranging from 14-17 years old, have been living with host families in Corning as they learn about Western Culture and practice the English language.
The community is welcome to attend.
Give your business an edge
A Tehama County Technology and Social Marketing series for businesses has two remaining workshops scheduled from 3-5 p.m. July 28 and Aug. 4., at the Red Bluff Community and Senior Center, 1500 S. Jackson St., Red Bluff.
The workshops address businesses using Web sites and social networking through the use of Twitter and Facebook. The fee is $20 per workshop.

Remembering farmers' mart
First Fruits Farmers Market is 5-7 p.m. every Friday in the parking lot of New Life Assembly Church, on Solano Street. Anyone is welcomed to set up their own booth or table at no cost. For more information, call 736-1702.
Getting along in the workplace
Workshop "Conflict Resolution in the Workplace" takes place from 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at the Tehama County Job Training Center, 724 Main St., Red Bluff.
Speaker Traci Montgomery, with 25 years experience in human resource management, will cover such subjects as listening techniques, identifying conflict resolution styles and the dynamics of team work.

CUHS serves up volleyball camp
The Corning High Volleyball Booster Club is hosting a volleyball camp for players entering fifth grade up to those entering 12th grade, July 26-29 at the high school.The camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon. Pre-registration is 8:45 a.m. Cost is $50, and players are to bring their own court shoes, sports clothing and water.Checks may be made out to Corning Volleyball Booster Club. Items needed for trip fund
A fundraiser rummage sale is being planned for the traditional Washington D.C. Trip made available for Corning eighth-grade students. The sale is slated for 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Oct. 2, in the parking lot of Maywood Junior High School.
For anyone in the community who would like to donate clean and/or good-condition items, students can pick-up such items starting at 8 a.m. Aug. 7 and 21, and Sept. 11 and 25.
The students also would like to make tables available for a Farmers Market.
If interested in renting a table or for donated items to be picked up, call 774-6006.
This is a student-sponsored event; Maywood Junior High School is not directly affiliated with this group.
Dinner set for Friends of NRA
The Tehama Chapter of Friends of the NRA will hold its annual fundraising dinner at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13 at Rolling Hills Casino, 2655 Barham Ave.
The event is $50 per person with half of the proceeds raised going towards Northern California shooting sports, youth programs, public safety and local ranges.

Fair promotes children services
Corning Youth Fair will take place 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the Northside Park.
Any business wishing to run a booth, is encouraged to contact Carol Curry at 824-7670 or e-mail ccurry@nvcss.org.
The is no charge to be a part of the fair, but participants are asked to donate a backpack containing school supplies for the Youth Fair Raffle.
Booths should provide an opportunity to share educational literature for parents and/or an activity for children.
Besides the booths, there will be fun activities, performances, food, prizes and free swimming in the afternoon, sponsored by the Corning Rotary.
Be the next city ambassador
With the Olive Festival right around the corner, contestants are being sought after for the Miss Corning Program which will take place on Saturday, Aug. 21, the weekend before the Olive Festival Week.
Miss Corning serves as an ambassador for the City of Corning throughout the year attending ribbon-cuttings, parades, dinners and other events.
