Police and fire dinner today

The Corning Exchange Club will hold its annual Police and Fire Dinner at the Corning Veterans Memorial Hall, starting at 6:30 p.m. today.

They will be honoring the outstanding police and fire officers of 2012.

Church holding bake sale

The Foursquare Church will hold a bake sale from 9 a.m-2 p.m. today at the church, 404 Fifth St.

Proceeds will go to the purchase of a computer for the church.

Electronic waste accepted

The Tehama County Sanitary Landfill Agency is conducting a free electronic waste collection event from 8 a.m.-noon today.

The events will be held at the Park and Ride commuter parking lot at the northeast corner of Third and Solano streets in Corning, and at the Tehama County Department of Social Services at 310 S. Main St.

Televisions, computer monitors and equipment, microwaves, DVD/VCR players, cellphones, and other small electronic waste will be accepted. There is no quantity limit.

Pancake breakfast is Sunday

The Corning youth bowlers will be holding a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. Sunday at Java Lanes, 2075 Solano St.

Tickets are $5 and $3 for children.

Spring indoor yard sale set

The Corning Veterans Memorial Hall will be having an indoor yard sale from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. March 1-2. Renting a table is $7. For more information, call 824-5957 from 8 a.m-noon Tuesday through Friday.

Orland Women having sale

Orland Women's Improvement Club will hold its annual rummage sale from 9:30 a.m-6 p.m. Friday, and from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. March 2 at Flaherty Hall on the Glenn County Fairgrounds. For more information, call Shirley Russell 865-9555.

Free household waste pickup

Corning Disposal will collect household hazardous waste from 8 a.m.-noon March 3, March 9 and March 23 at its Highway 99W location.

Tehama County Landfill on Plymire Road will collect waste from 8 a.m.-noon March 2 and March 16.

Waste items include, among other items, grease, pesticides, fertilizers, oil-based paints, stains, solvents and pool chemicals.

Capay firefighters to host dinner

The 48 annual buffet dinner will from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. March 3 at the Capay Elementary School, located at Fourth and Cutting avenue.

Tickets are $8, $5 for children under 12 and free for preschoolers.

School hosting spaghetti feed

The North Valley Christian Schools 11th annual spaghetti dinner and raffle will begin with an auction preview at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 5:30 p.m. March 9 at Willows Memorial Hall, 525 W. Sycamore St. Prizes, gift certificates and baked goods will be raffled.

Dinner tickets are $20 per family or $5 per person. For tickets or more information, call the school at 865-4924. Tickets ordered by phone can be mailed or held at the door.

Gelding program offered

A low cost gelding clinic will be held March 17 at the Tehama District Fairgrounds in Red Bluff.

Private parties with horses can attend this event, which is co-hosted by the National Equine Resource Network and R-VETS. The cost is $75.

Dr. Eric Davis is volunteering his services.
