Man caught with pot
A Rio Del man who claimed to have a medical marijuana recommend was arrested on suspicion of transportation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale.
Tehama County Sheriff's deputies made a traffic stop on a Chevrolet pickup at 12:31 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 27, at Highway 36W and Dibble Creek Road.
Deputies located 20, 1-pound bags of marijuana, in two separate duffle bags in the bed of the pickup, said the Sheriff's Department.
The driver of the pickup, Angel Manuel Ramirez, 24, told deputies he had a medical recommendation for the marijuana, but was unable to produce proof, deputies said.
He was booked into the Tehama County Jail. Bail was set at $50,000.
Tools stolen in Vina
Jimmy Larsen, 63, of Vina, reported to sheriff's deputies that a storage container located on the 3300 block of Vadney Avenue had been burglarized sometime on Saturday, Aug. 28, between 4:30 and 6 p.m.
Taken was four Stihl chainsaws, four Milwaukee hand grinders, two battery chargers and an air compressor. Estimated loss is reported as $2,200.
