Corning Chamber of Commerce update

New member

Cleanup day 
Saturday, you can help Corning get a clean sweep on spring with a free cleanup day starting at 8 a.m. The Dumpsters will be at Bell-Carter Olive Co. parking lot and the transportation center. This is for Corning residents only. Acceptable items are: appliances, furniture and other household waste, including cardboard, newspaper and magazines. To the Corning Transportation Center you may bring tires, electronic waste, TVs, computer/printer equipment, radios, VCR/DVD players and other small electronics, alkaline batteries and yard waste. Tehama County Outlook 
The Job Training Center presents "Seeds of Opportunity II: Staying Competitive in Tough Times" from 7:30 to11 a.m. Tuesday at the Red Bluff Community and Senior Center, 1500 S. Jackson St. The cost is $25 per person with breakfast provided, and pre-registration is required. You will learn survival strategies from local, innovative entrepreneurs. Special keynote presentation by Ryne Johnson, chief executive officer of The Chico Project. Call 529-7000. 

‘50s sock hop
The Knights of Columbus presents a '50s-style sock hop from 7 to 11 p.m. May 8 at the Veterans Memorial Hall. Tickets are $10 per person. There will be a prize for best '50s dress. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served, and there will be a no-host bar. You may get your tickets from Don or Jan. Call 824-5046.

Corning Car Show 
The car show is coming up May 8 and 9, and we hope that you are planning to attend. Friday registration begins at 3 p.m. and goes until 5:30 p.m. when the cruise begins. Cars will travel from the Transportation Center to Corning Ford where the car show mixer begins. Saturday begins with a pancake breakfast at the fire hall and the show and shine is from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cars must be parked by 10 a.m. to be judged. At 9 a.m., there will be a 4X4 slow drag, at 10 a.m. the low rider hydraulic show and at 11 a.m. the first round of burnouts. The awards presentation is at 3 p.m. See you there.
