Chamber Chat: Aug. 4

New member welcomed

The Corning Chamber of Commerce welcomes new member Trinity Healthcare Associates at 145 Solano St.; phone 824-5401.

Spotlight keeps with the times

Miracle Upholstery, 1135 Fourth Ave., ph. 824-2245, is the Chamber spotlight this week.

Bruce Christiansen, owner and operator, has been in business since 1983 and has been a chamber member for the past couple of years.

Bruce upholsters cars, boats, and furniture, and does commercial upholstery as well.

"I like working with my hands, making things look like new again, and I enjoy my customers," said Bruce. "This business is constantly changing. There are new styles of cars, boats and furniture coming out every year so I have to stay on my toes figuring out how to repair them. There are new challenges almost daily."

Bruce has been married to Julie for almost nine years. Julie's kids are grown with their own children so Bruce gets to play grandpa, which he says, "Is a lot of fun."

When Bruce is not working, he loves to fish and go camping and boating.

This Saturday, Aug. 7, volunteers from Wal-Mart are putting on an event to honor two boys from Corning, Landon who was diagnosed with leukemia and who wants to be a policeman and Malach who has congenital heart disease and says he wants to be a fireman when he grows up.
