Learn to define harassment at work

Workshop to help take the confusion out of harassment complaints will take place at 7:20 a.m. Thursday, at the Tehama County Job Training Center, 724 Main St., Red Bluff. Spending a day picking at prunes

The 7th Annual Tehama County Prune Day is from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday, at the Red Bluff Elks Lodge, 355 Gilmore Road, Red Bluff. Anyone interested in prune production is encouraged to attend. Two hours of PCA credit can be requested. The $15 per person registration covers lunch and meeting costs, and must be received by Jan. 29. Send check - made payable to "U.C. Troops scout city for papers

Corning Boy Scouts Troops 5 and 62 will hold a newspaper drive Saturday. (Feb. 13 in the event of rain) Put papers - no magazines - on the curb by 9 a.m. Anyone living outside the city limits can take papers to Specialized Fiber, 22985 South Ave., just west of the railroad tracks. Money from this event will be used for 2010 awards and camping trips. Any questions, call 824-3240.

 

Enjoy crab or tri-tip to support Lady Cards

Corning High School Girls Basketball is having their "All You Can Eat" crab or tri-tip feed from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Veterans Memorial Hall, 1620 Solano St. Either meal - crab or tri-tip - is $30 each. All proceeds go towards the girls basketball program. Tickets may be purchased from any player or by calling 567-5100.

 

Parents join for Sober Grad raffle

Corning High School Parents Club — Cards in Action — is working together with parents from the Orland, Willows, and Hamilton communities to sponsor a 2010 Sober Grad Raffle. The raffle has drawings for trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas, Napa and San Francisco, and for cash prizes of $500, $350 and $200. Tickets are $20 and the drawing will be held Saturday. Retired teachers focus on funding scholarships

The California Retired Teachers Association, Mt. Lassen, Division 9, meets at 11 a.m. Monday, at the Federated Church of Orland, 709 First St., Orland. The cost for the luncheon will be $10. Conductor Kyle Wiley Pickett, from the North State Symphony, will be the guest speaker. Two members from the symphony will also play with singer Maigen Matteucci, and 10-year-old pianist Martin Trang. The event is to help raise funds for the group's scholarships. Knowing the people in your neighborhood

Neighborhood Watch in Richfield is holding their monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at Richfield Elementary School, 23875 River Rd. Several items are on the agenda with some updates from last month. The group is going strong with many new members. All members get their residence on the map. Details: 824-6260.


Youth asking public to attend meeting

The Corning Skateboard & Bike Association will be making a special appearance at the Corning City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 794 Third St. The association has made a request for an update on property acquisition for a skateboard and bike park and they would like the public to show their interest in supporting a safe and legal park by attending the meeting.

 

Blood drive saves lives

Rolling Hills Casino will be hosting a BloodSource blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 12, in the Training Room, 2655 Barham Ave. Blood donors need to be in generally good health, at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent) and weight at least 110 pounds. Prospective donors must bring a photo ID. For more information, call 1-866-82BLOOD.

 

Eat pancakes to boost athletes

Richfield Elementary School will have their annual pancake breakfast from 8 - 11 a.m. Feb. 13, at the school, 23875 River Road. Adults and children, ages 13 years old and older, pay $4 and children, 12 and younger, pay $3. Hosted by the Richfield PTO and the Athletic Department, proceeds will benefit school athletics.

 

Workshops may help your garden grow

Part of a series of three, a garden and landscape workshop - "No Till Gardening" - will be held from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Feb. 13, at the Junior Arts Building, Tehama District Fairgrounds, 650 Antelope Blvd., Red Bluff. The additional workshops will be held on March 13 and April 10. Reservations and information available at the Tehama County Resource Conservation District, 527-3013, ext. 3. TCRCD is also offering free yard and garden evaluations for a limited number of residents living on the east side of Tehama County.

 

Soup's on for valentine gala

Paskenta Community Hall will have a Valentine's Soup and Salad Dinner and dancing with the Cottonwood Band at 6 p.m. Feb. 13. Tickets can be purchased at the Flournoy Country Store and from Emily Murphy. Tickets are $10 per person; children, 5 years old and younger, eat free. The menu includes Clam Chowder and Mexican Meatball Soup, salad and bread, dessert, coffee, tea and punch. Desserts may be provided by anyone attending.


Quilt show blends past with present

The Paskenta area quilters will be presenting "Quiltin' to the Oldies" - a Friends' Memorial Quilt Show - from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Feb. 15, at the Paskenta Community Hall, 13140 Toomes Camp Road. Anyone interested in showing their quilts from the past, or from the present, may call 833-5396, 824-0131, or 833-0269. There will be quilts for sale, vendors, door prizes and a quilt raffle. The Flournoy/Paskenta 4-H will offer lunch and beverages for sale. Donations will be accepted at the door.
