The
suspicious manner of a male juvenile led a citizen to call the department
regarding a youth selling raffle tickets, which they thought was possibly a
scam. Officers were able to contact the child at Center Street. After officers
looked into the situation, the money collected by two juveniles was turned over
to the parents who would handle the matter , and the juveniles, ages 7 and 9,
were admonished.
A concerned citizen, at 8:51 p.m., called to report a possible drunk driver had hit a parked car on Palm Avenue, and the vehicle and driver were now parked in his driveway. Party called back at 8:56 p.m. to say subject was now heading westbound on Fig Lane. Officers were able to locate the subject at the Liquor Cabinet and arrested Thomas Jacob Barlett, 68, of Corning on alcohol related charges, obstructing and resisting an officer, battery and for vandalism of an item exceeding $400 worth of damage. Barlett was booked at the Tehama County Sheriff's Department.
