Maureen Joyce Burns
Visitation is
scheduled for Maureen Joyce Burns of Willows from 5 to 8 p.m. today at
Hoyt-Cole Chapel of The Flowers, 816 Walnut St., Red Bluff. A memorial service
is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at Hoyt-Cole Chapel of The Flowers. Eulogy is
by John Bohrer, Chaplain.
Maureen, 78 went to be
with her Lord on July 6, 2008 at Enloe Hospital in Chico after a courageous
final battle with heart disease and pneumonia. "Rene" was born on Nov. 1, 1929,
in Canton, Ohio. She married her one life-long, loving husband Pete Burns on
June 26, 1948, in Louisville, Ohio where they began raising their six kids.
While raising her family, they lived in Ohio; Cupertino and San Jose.
After
retiring, they lived in Rancho Tehama, Stonyford, Utah and Willows. Rene
enjoyed doing crafts, making special Christmas ornaments, sewing, gardening,
painting, collecting, and many other hobbies. She actively volunteered for the
Fire Protection and Prevention Program. After her kids were grown, she became
an actress, joined SAG, and had parts in many movies, TV commercials, and
theater. Her proudest accomplishment was working on the set and appearing in
the movie "Mrs. Doubtfire" with Robin Williams.
She leaves to cherish
fond memories, her husband of 60 years Pete Burns; three sons, Allan Burns of
Oregon, and Gerald and Brian Burns of Colorado; three daughters Sharon Murphy
of California, Sandra Foote of Utah and Carol Williams of California; 16
grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews,
friends and her pets Peaches, Muffin and Skippy.
She will be so dearly missed by
all. Her generous contributions of strength, love, time, talents and endurance
will live on in her husband and family. May she rest pain-free at last, in
peace in God's arms.
In lieu of fresh flowers, the
family suggests potted plants and silk flowers.
