Making pizzas fresh

Papa Murphy's Take 'N' Bake, 2011 Solano St., is the Corning Chamber of Commerce's featured business for this week.

The business has been in Corning for approximately 11 years and the present owners, Scott and Marcia Bauer, have owned it for the past three years. They have 11 employees and are open seven days a week with summer hours 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Papa Murphy's offers custom-made pizzas featuring high-quality, fresh toppings generously layered on a pizza dough which contains zero grams of trans fat per serving and is made fresh each morning in the store.

In addition to handmade pizzas, they offer a growing menu of take 'n' bake items, including cheesy bread, cinnamon wheels, chocolate chip cookie dough and freshly-made salads.

Papa Murphy's pizzas are baked at home, orders can be called in at 824-4422.

 

Mixers coming up

At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Hometown Café, 1081 Solano St., (Transportation Center), is hosting the monthly Chamber get-together. Refreshments will be served, and business cards will be put in a drawing for door prizes.

There will also be an Olive Festival Mixer on August 26, at the Bell Carter break room. More information to follow.

 

Lots going on at youth event

The Corning Youth Fair will take place from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, at the Northside Park, corner of Colusa and Sixth streets. There will be activities for kids, informational booths, food and drinks, face painting, a raffle for a backpack with school supplies and the Corning Rotary is sponsoring free swimming at the pool between 1-3 p.m.

Enter county fair soon

The Tehama District Fair is scheduled from Sept. 23-26. The Corning Chamber has the exhibitor handbook and entry forms at the office, 1110 Solano St.; 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (closed during the noon hour) Monday - Friday.

The entry form deadline is August 31.

This is the 90th year for the fair and the theme is "Big Cheers for 90 Years!"

 

Beds not just for sleeping

The Olive Festival Parade and "Corning Does it Bedder" Bed Races are coming up, August 27.

To register, go online at www.corningchamber.org and click on Corning Olive Festival. Forms can be printed and mailed to: Corning Chamber of Commerce, 1110 Solano Street, Corning, CA 96021.

Vendor applications are also available, but there is limited space.
