Letter: Corning pot co-op harmful

If pot has medicinal value it should be dispensed only by licensed registered pharmacists, and only on the presentation of a current prescription limited to four annual refills, and only if it has Food and Drug Administration approval.

The fact that a small majority of Californians approved the medicinal sale of marijuana should not take precedence over the Federal laws that make the growing, possession and sale of pot illegal.

A majority of voters approved the propositions and laws that caused the $48 billion California deficit. Voters make lots of mistakes, including the so called medicinal sale of pot.

Allowing co-op sale of pot in Corning will increase the responsibility and costs of police management to insure that no one drives under the influence of pot, or sells or gives the harmful weed to anyone who does not have a California medicinal prescription.

Granting a license to distribute the federally illegal weed, will effectively support the Mexican cartel that gorws and distributes pot from the local National forests.

The anarchy of habitual drug users should not compel the Corning City Council to approve the spread of civil disrespect for authority.
