Briefs: Sun Quilters guild workshops

The Sun Country Quilters guild will be holding a meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, at the Red Bluff Community and Senior Center, 1500 South Jackson, Red Bluff, where members Natalie Larson and Vicki Haldane will be showing more than 50 quilts. Featured also, will be a look at what is ahead in Programs and Workshops for 2012.

The meeting is free for all who would like to attend, and provides interested person to see what the guild is all about, from meeting new people, making new friends, learning about quilts, how to quilt and even helping out the community with quilt donations.

Safe & Sober Grand Raffle sale

Tickets for the third annual Safe & Sober Grand Raffle are on sale for $10 each. Enter for a chance to win a grand prize trip to Hawaii or a second place prize of a weekend trip to San Francisco. There are also four cash prizes available.

The drawing will be held Feb. 11 at noon. Proceeds benefit Willows High School, Orland High School, Hamilton High School and Corning High School's Safe & Sober Grad Night programs.

Landfill taking tires

The Tehama County Landfill will be accepting free of charge passenger tires smaller than 17 inches from 8 a.m. to noon today.

The locations are Corning Park & Ride at Solano and Third streets, Paynes Creek Tranfer Station and Evergreen Middle School in Cottonwood.

The landfill also will be accepting electronic waste at the Corning and Cottonwood sites during the tire event.

Agricultural tires will be collected free of charge throughout February with appropriate voucher.

Vouchers are available at Corning City Hall, 749 Third St., the Tehama County/Red Bluff Landfill, the Agricultural Commissioner's office in Red Bluff, and at the Bull & Gelding Sale Office in Red Bluff.

There are restrictions, so for more information on the passenger and ag tire events, call 528-1103.

Prune growers workshops

The Prune Bargaining Association, in coordination with the California Dried Plum Board and the USDA Risk Management Agency, will host three January educational sessions focused on prune industry market conditions and marketing strategies for North State prune growers.

The meetings will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at The Refuge, 1501 Butte House Road, Yuba City; at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 25 at Marie Callendar's, 1910 East 20th St., Chico; and at 5 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Berry Patch Restaurant, 900 Newville Road, Orland.
