Crime Reports: Copper wire stolen
Nearly $13,000 in solid copper wiring was reported stolen from the California Northern Railroad in the area of Gallagher and Gyle roads on Highway 99W north of Corning sometime between 6 p.m. Nov. 9 and 6 p.m. Nov. 12, the Tehama County Sheriff's Department reported.
A similar theft was reported in Glenn County.
Assault with weapon
A Red Bluff man was arrested Nov. 14 on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm for reportedly attacking another man with a butcher knife.
Tehama County Sheriff's Department reported that David Martin McDonald, 42, attacked Jeffrey Laverne Miller, 44, of Red Bluff, cutting him on both his hands, and nearly severing his thumb on the right hand.
Miller was treated at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital and released.
McDonald was booked into the Tehama County Jail. Bail was set at $30,000.
A Kawasaki Mule and Husky air compressor valued at $2,650 was reported stolen from the Manton Cemetery District sometime between Nov. 7 and Nov. 14, the Tehama County Sheriff's Department reported.
A traffic stop on Merrill Road near Corning about 1:40 p.m. Thursday led to the arrest of Chad McCoy, 42, of Corning, ons suspition of possession of .64 grams of cocaine and a glass pipe, Tehama County Sheriff's Department reported.
McCoy was booked into the Tehama County Jail on suspicion of possession of cocaine and a misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $16,000.
