    CUHS students win "Best of Shows"

    Corning students do better than fair

    Corning Union High School and Centennial High School students displayed art and woodshop projects at their respective booths this past week at the Silver Dollar Fair in Chico.

    Several students won ribbons, including "Best of Shows" and Corning High also won "Best of Show" for its booth display. Students who won "Best of Shows" are: Nicolas Bergen for graphite pencil drawing, Samira Arreguin for ceramic vase,  Angela Torres, for watercolor and Adriana Vargas for hand-painted quilt design. Jesus Mundo for his "Best of Show" in San Francisco representing the Corning Women's Club.

    Support teachers participating in the event included Karen Atkinson, drawing and ceramics; Mendy Beardsley, watercolor, acrylic and drawing; Marleigh Williams, fashion design; Christine Puchlik Pelkofer, media design; Tom Tomlinson, woodshop; Andrea Kenner, drama design and Centennial High School teacher Jesse Beardsley, woodshop.

    The success of the fair experience for the students was also made possible by community donations from such groups as Sierra Pacific Industries and the Corning Rotary.
