Crime Briefs: Oct. 22, 2011

A San Leandro man reportedly told police the pound of marijuana found in his car was medicinal, which he purchased in Redding with intent to sell for $700 profit in Berkeley, the Tehama County Sheriff's Department reported.

Tito Tomio Jones, 39, was arrested and booked into the Tehama County Jail on suspicion of possession and transportation of marijuana for sale. Bail was set at $30,000.

The deputies had stopped at 11:36 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, to assist Tito, whose vehicle apparently was disabled on the side of Gyle Road near the freeway.

Warrant, drugs land arrest

A Corning man wanted on a $65,000 felony warrant was arrested on Hoag Street near Kaufman Avenue at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, and police reported seizing .4 grams of methamphetamine and a glass pipe.

Eric Glenn Stevens, 47, was booked into the Tehama County Jail on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine for sale, and the arrest warrant. Bail was set at $95,000.

$150,000 warrant arrest

Corning police arrested Deborah Ann Bowen, 56, of Corning, on a $150,000 warrant out of Shasta County, during a traffic stop at 9:36 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20.

The stop was made on Hoag Road and Bowen was a passenger in a vehicle driven by George Wayne Singleton, 54, of Corning, police said.

During a search of the vehicle officers reported finding methamphetamine, marijuana and prescription medication for which neither Bowen or Singleton had a prescription, police said.

Singleton was arrested and booked into the Tehama County Jail on suspicion of possession and transportation of a controlled substance, and possession of a narcotic controlled substance. Bail was set at $55,000.

Bowen was booked into the jail on suspicion of possession and transportation of a controlled substance, and possession of a narcotic controlled substance, and the warrant.
