Corning woman killed in crash

A 20-year-old Corning woman was killed in a rollover crash on Friday near Knighton Road on Interstate 5.
The California Highway Patrol reported Lauren Umphenour was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer southbound on the freeway around 3:15 p.m., when she struck a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado traveling in front of her that had slowed down for traffic.
The impact caused Umphenour's vehicle to overturn several times, ejecting the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, onto the center divide, CHP said.
Umphenour was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding, where she was pronounced dead at 4:15 p.m.
