VanDoorn graduates from basic training

Army Pvt. Matthew K. VanDoorn has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, VanDoorn studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values. He also received instruction and practice in basic war, ceremonial, physical fitness, field, and combat skills and practices, as well as training in all other attributes expected and assigned to one called to protect and serve.
VanDoorn is a 2009 graduate of Corning Union High School. He is the son of Chuck VanDoorn of Corning.
