Social benefits museum house
The Kelly Griggs House Museum will have its summer social at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 29, on the grounds of the 1880 Victorian house, 311 Washington St., in Red Bluff.
Donations of $5 will give participants a guided downstairs tour and an ice cream sundae.
There will also be free olive oil tasting, live musical entertainment groups, a bounce house and art, photo and craft exhibits.
Grilled hamburgers, soft drinks and water will also be available for purchase with proceeds going towards the Foundation Replacement Fund.
Many in the community have come together to put on the social which raises money to help with the cost of keeping the museum open: Tremont Cafe and Creamery, Red Bluff Rotary, Boy Scout Troop 154, Moules Glass and Curl Art, Lucero and Pacific Sun, Burnsini, Betty and Richard Brown of Corning, The Red Bluff Photo Club, the Red Bluff Art Association, the Tehama County Shriners, Sonja Akers of Corning, native Daughters, and the Red Bluff Chamber of Commerce.
To kick-off the social, Kelly-Griggs guides - dressed in Victorian costumes - will ride in the Corning Olive Festival Parade on Aug. 27.
