CHP reports two crashes

California Highway Patrol responded to two crashes in the south end of Tehama County recently: one a hit and run, the other a DUI crash.

The first occurred at 4 a.m. on Friday when Adolfo Bobadilla, 23, of Corning, was driving a 1995 Nissan Altima eastbound on South Avenue near Columbia Avenue. He had one passenger in the vehicle, Dario Bobadilla, 25, of Corning, said CHP Officer Philip Mackintosh.

It appears the driver allowed the Nissan to drift left across the westbound lanes and into a ditch at the intersection where it overturned twice coming to rest on its roof, Mackintosh said.

Both Bobadilla's were wearing seatbelts and having suffered only minor injuries were able to extricate themselves from the car and fled the scene of the crash on foot, said the CHP.

During a subsequent investigation the CHP contacted Dario Bobadilla who admitted to being in the accident and leaving the scene, Mackintosh said.

CHP is still investigating the crash and are seeking contact with Adolfo Bobadilla, CHP said.

The second crash was at 1:25 a.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Capay Road and Highway 99W, when Ruben Alvarez Flores, 56, of Orland, was driving a 1997 Toyota Tacoma westbound on Capay Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at the highway, went across both lanes and struck a guardrail, Mackintosh said.

As Flores was getting out of the vehicle it caught on fire and received major damage, the CHP said.

Flores was arrested and booked into the Tehama County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence. Bail was set at $2,500.
