    Clinic viewed as community jackpot

Got an ache or pain. Need to see a doctor.

Corning residents will soon have an additional choice in getting their ailments treated as a new medical clinic is coming to town.

The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, owners of Rolling Hills Casino, is venturing out into the world of medicine and will be opening Rolling Hills Clinic of Corning, as well as Rolling Hills Clinic of Red Bluff, by Jan. 1, according to Kate Grissom, Rolling Hills director of marketing and public relations.

"This is very exciting for the tribe, and I can definitely saw when they decide to do something they go all the way and the best way," Grissom commented.

The clinic in Corning, to be located at 702 Solano St., will provide both medical and dental care. The clinic in Red Bluff will also offer those services.

"The Corning facility will be 80 percent medical and 20 percent dental and the clinic in Red Bluff will be just the opposite," Grissom said, "20 percent dental and 80 percent medical and will be located in the medical complex near St. Elizabeth Community Hospital."

Both sites will see renovations to accommodate the "brand new state-of-the-art equipment," reported Grissom.

She said the clinics will offer community benefit programs, additional employment opportunities for the community, specialty physicians, and a full spectrum of pediatric medical and dental services.

Two doctors, one a medical physician, the other a dentist, have already come on board and will head the clinic's services.

A brand new facility is going to be built for DeAnn's Busy Bee Preschool, which currently uses the building where the Corning clinic will be housed.

John Eller, of Eller Construction, said he is building the preschool facility in the acreage behind Physical Therapy and Wellness Center at 710 Solano St.
