Growing regs for medical marijuana on agenda
Medical marijuana cultivation rules, economic development and a cotton ordinance top Tuesday's agenda for Glenn County supervisors.
Their meeting begins at 9 a.m. in the board chambers inside Willows Memorial Hall, 525 W. Sycamore St.
Planning Director John Linhart is seeking board approval of a new countywide ordinance regulating the cultivation of medical marijuana for personal use.
It was previously approved by the Glenn County Planning Commission and calls for setbacks from neighbors' properties, solid fencing around the plants and other measures to prevent personal gardens from becoming a nuisance.
The marijuana hearing begins at 9:30 a.m.
On the economic front, Employment Services Manager David Allee and members of the Cities and County Joint-Economic Development Steering Committee are to talk about their activities at 10:15 a.m.
The group includes representatives from city government and commissions along with county staff and officials who have been working on branding Glenn County as a tourist and agricultural destination along with revisions to city and county permitting applications to streamline the process.
Strike and navigation team members also are ready to work with business people interested in locating or expanding into Glenn County and its cities through the permit process.
Agricultural Commissioner Jim Donelly also is to introduce options to change the county's cotton ordinance passed several years ago to control Verticillium Dahlia. The goal is to make the rules less restrictive on cotton growers, county officials said. That issue is scheduled for discussion at 10:45 a.m.
The KVB Waste Conversion project near Hamilton City also is on the agenda for an update.
Owner Kara Baker and her consultant Ryne Johnson plan to give the board a progress report on the proposed facility at 10 a.m.
Discussion of a ballot measure sponsored by Gov. Jerry Brown is planned as well with Supervisor John Viegas to receive board direction on the issue to take back to state and regional local governmental organizations of which he is a member.
