Stony Creek Muzzleloaders shoot for toys
This holiday season the Corning Volunteer Fire Department is carrying on its 35-year-plus tradition of providing toys and food to the less fortunate with its "Christmas basket" program.
Keeping with that spirit of goodwill the Stony Creek Muzzleloaders are holding their 13th annual Toy Shoot on Dec. 7 (rain or shine), in support the fire department's efforts.
Last year the Stony Creek Muzzleloaders provided the Corning Fire Department with hundreds of toys and $700 in cash.
In hopes of raising and donating even more to the program the muzzleloaders are holding this year's toy shoot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lizard Camp. Entry fee is one unwrapped toy the value of $10 or more per shooter.
The day's events will include a trail walk, paper targets, re-entry shoot, hawk throw and leapin' lizard at $1 per target.
Along with the shooting fun there will be a lot of food, drinks, and homemade treats with lunch being served by the Corning High School Shooting Team.
"Square W Trading Post will be available for supplies," said Stony Creek member Doug Hatley.
As for the type of firearms that can be discharged at the event, Hatley said in-lines are welcomed with round ball and patch only.
"No visual aids other than prescription eyeglasses will be allowed," he said.
For more information call Hatley at 824-0648.
