Corning Healthcare District welcomes new member

The Corning Healthcare District board welcomed its newest member Ross Turner with a swearing-in ceremony during the board's November meeting.

Along with Turner, District Manager Shirley Faye swore-in incumbent Patricia Rasmussen.

Turner studied agriculture at California State University, Chico, and is an olive producer.

This is the second time Turner has served on the Corning Healthcare District Board, the first time about 30 years ago.

He has served on local and regional agricultural boards and organizations and for more than 40 years as a volunteer firefighter for the Corning Rural Fire Department. Turner's experience in local government is extensive as he has served several times in Corning's city government, as well as serving as Tehama County Supervisor for 12 years.

"I have always wanted to help others," said Turner. "I am not in the medical field, but I believe in helping people who are in need. I look forward to being of further assistance to our community."

Turner is filling the board position left vacant when Marlene Mason decided not to run for another term.

Healthcare District Board Vice President Charles Rouse said the board is grateful to serve with Turner and to have someone of the same caliber of honesty and integrity as Mason step up to the plate.

Rasmussen has served the Corning Healthcare District since 2005.

"I have enjoyed working with fellow board members on projects important to our community," said Rasmussen, who has served as district board president, vice president and secretary.

Turner and Rasmussen will be serving with Guadalupe Green, Rouse and Sherie Abel.

Corning Memorial Hospital District was established in 1946 and became Corning Healthcare District in 1995 to bring health related services to the south end of Tehama County. Our office is located in the Meuser Memorial Health Center at 275 Solano Street in Corning California.

The District opened the Meuser Memorial Health Center in 2010, which holds Tehama County Health Agency, Tehama County Social Services Agency, Quest Diagnostics, Children First and the Corning Healthcare District office.

Next door to the health center is Trinity Healthcare Associates medical clinic which the Healthcare District facilitates.
