Tehama County Registrar of Voters Beverly Ross and the last day to register to vote for the special state Senate District 4 election is Monday.

The Jan. 8 special election runoff is between Republican Jim Nielsen and Democrat Michael "Mickey" Harrington.

Ross advises registered voters who have moved within the county, changed their name or changed a mailing address must complete a new voter registration card. Election material is not forwardable.

The winner replaces Congressman-elect Doug LaMalfa, R-Richvale.

Candidates for the office were on the Nov. 6 ballot, but none earned the 50.1 percent of the vote required to win outright.
