Candidate tally hits 17 for local seats
The race is on for city council, mayor, school boards, and healthcare district
Local names and numbers are in for those who have thrown there hats into the candidates' race in this November's election.
According to the Tehama County Elections Department, there are 17 candidates who have officially filed for a variety of local positions including city mayor, city council, city treasurer, city clerk, Coring Healthcare District, Corning Union Elementary School Board, and Corning Union High School Board.
The candidates now have until the November 4 general election to weigh in their reasons for the voters' vote.
Said Chamber of Commerce Manger Valanne Cardenas, "The chamber board will discuss sponsoring a candidates' night for those running for local positions in an effort to provide the community with an opportunity to learn more about those running for office."
She asks anyone interested in a candidates' night to please call the chamber at 824-5550.
The county's period for candidates to file was July 14 through Aug. 8.

Corning Mayor, two-year term
• Gary Strack, incumbent
• Richard Lipari, businessman/restaurateur
Corning City Councilmember, two positions, four-year term
• John Leach, associate pastor
• Darlene Dickison, incumbent
• Toni A. Parkins, retail clerk
• Michael LePeibet, business owner
• Yvette Zuniga
Corning Healthcare District Board, four-year term
• Patricia R. Rasmussen, incumbent
• Marlene Mason, incumbent
Two-year term
• Charles E. Rouse, retired postal worker
City Clerk, four-year term
• Lisa M. Linnet, incumbent
City Treasurer, four-year term
• Pala Cantrell, appointed incumbent
Corning Union Elementary School District Board, four-year term, two positions
• Martin H. Mathisen, incumbent
• Shanna J. Long, incumbent
Corning Union High School District Board, four-year term, two positions
• Don Minto, farmer
• Bob Steinacher, incumbent
• Danny Salado, incumbent

| Vote back Toni and keep in Darlene. I think George moved out of town. Definitely keep Lipari out. He still thinks he can beat Gary yeah right Gary is what we need. |

| Since Lipari is losing his business maybe he will go away, what a nut job he is. I hope darlene and toni get elected, none of the others are worth anything. Isn't this the first time in the history of earth that George Freeman is not running? |
