Future farmers recognized at FFA banquet
Jamie Marron receives Dekalb Award, FFA’s highest agricultural honor
Once again it was a busy, fun and educational year for Corning Union High School's (CUHS) FFA chapter. The year's activities, as well as the accomplishments of many any of the participating students, were highlighted Monday evening during the chapter's annual banquet in the CUHS cafeteria.
The night's highest honors went to CUHS senior Jamie Marron, as she was presented with the Dekalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award. Marron is the daughter of Leslie Marron, and received the award for excellence in academics, leadership and agriculture work experience.
During her time with Corning FFA, Marron served as president, past vice president, two-time delegate for the State FFA Leadership Conference, Glenn County steer exhibitor and replacement dairy heifer exhibitor.
Marron's name will be placed on a permanent plaque that will be displayed at CUHS.
The Dekalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award has been sponsored by Monsanto since 1998, and is named after the company's brand of seed.
