A new face on the police beat
Officer Jourdan joins the crime fighting team in the Olive City
He has always known he wanted to be a policeman, so when Justin Jourdan, 21, of Red Bluff, learned he had been hired by the Corning Police Department he was ready to hit the streets.
"I come from a law enforcement background," said Jourdan. "My older brother is a military police officer and my uncle retired from the F.B.I. They both influenced my decision."
Jourdan graduated from the Butte County Police Academy on June 12, and is one of four new hires by city to serve as an officer for the CPD.
So far Jourdan is happy with his decision.
"It has been great, a lot of fun," said Jourdan. "I know there are dangers and that officer safety is paramount, but that doesn't lessen the enjoyment I have had."
Jourdan said he was pleased to be recruited by Corning as it is close to home, and an easy commute.
"I did quite a few ride-alongs with the Corning Police Department and knew it was a great police force," Jourdan stated. "I like the excitement of being a cop and interacting with people."
Jourdan's family, including his parents, Bill and Kathy Jourdan, are supportive of Jourdan's decision to go into law enforcement.
He plans on serving the Corning community for quite awhile and hopes to help in dealing with the methamphetamine and domestic violence problems he feels areplaguing the community and its surrounding areas.
