‘Hizzoner’ is ‘her’oner in LM mayoral race
While Hillary Clinton fell short in seeking the Democratic nomination for President, another woman has risen to the top on the local political scene.
Shelley Patchen won the honorary mayor's race in Los Molinos recently, and "takes office" today beginning her one-year term.
Patchen will be honored as the Grand Marshall in today's Los Molinos Fourth of July Parade.
Rob Morales will serve as first vice mayor, with Jan Elmore second vice mayor.
The big winner, as always, is the town of Los Molinos, as a total of $4,741.73 was deposited in the Umpqua Bank for future parades.
Dignitaries on-hand for counting the money were: Herb Votaw, commander, V.F.W. Post 3909 and also a member of the Los Molinos Chamber of Commerce; Roger Burgess, V.F. W. Post 3930; John Davis, V.F. W. Post 3909; Charles Githens, V.F.W. Post 3909 and member of the chamber; Ken Northrup, V.F.W. Post 3909; and Betty Joe Morales, chamber president.
