TCRCD hosts grazing seminar and reception
From 1 to 5 p.m., Nov. 1, at the State Theater in Red Bluff, the Tehama County Resource Conservation District will host a “Working Landscapes - The Environmental Benefits of Grazing” seminar, followed by a reception featuring local food and wine produced in Tehama County. Admission is $5.
This event, which is one of several events taking place as part of the Farm – City Week, is meant to encourage support of our ranching community and highlight the importance of grazing and valley floor agriculture. The featured speaker will be Dan Dagget, author of the Pulitzer Prize nominated book, “Beyond the Rangeland Conflict: Toward a West That Works”, and his newest book, “Gardeners of Eden”. Dagget will be available for a book signing following the presentation. TCRCD will also present a short video at the event that demonstrates the environmental, cultural and social benefits that are provided by ranches, also called “working landscapes”.
In the spirit of Farm-City Week, several local organizations are co-sponsoring the event. Sponsors include the Tehama County Farm Bureau, Tehama County Cattlemen and Cattlewomen, the Sacramento River Area Conservation Forum and the Red Bluff Tehama County Chamber of Commerce.
This seminar is one of a series of informational workshops, which the TCRCD is providing for the public and landowners. This will be our only event featuring local food and wine tasting, so don’t miss out! Interested parties are asked to RSVP by Oct. 24. For additional information call 527-3013, ext. 3.
