New trial date set for suspect in Yuba City attempted murder

A new trial date has been set for the Yuba City man charged with trying to kill a man a year ago behind the Palisade Hotel during a drunken argument over $20.

Martin Anthony Galindo has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of the Troy Robinson on Jan. 31, 2011, outside the hotel in the 900 block of Gray Avenue.

After the shooting, Galindo, 63, returned to the crime scene causally eating fried chicken from a paper bag, admitted to shooting Robinson and registered a blood-alcohol level of .22, according to the testimony of Yuba City police officers during preliminary hearing in May. [Read story]

Robinson also testified at the hearing and said he believed he died twice after he was shot.

Galindo was ordered to stand trial May 22 in Sutter County Superior Court and is scheduled to appear again April 16 for a pretrial hearing.

He remains in custody without bail at the Sutter County Jail.
