Cocaine bust in Corning
A Red Bluff man was arrested on a $100,000 warrant at the Flying J Truck Stop on June 24.
Sitting in a gold Honda Accord in the truck stop parking lot, Nathan Darrell Simmons, 36, was arrested on the outstanding felony warrant on charges of battery with great bodily injury, terrorist threats and resisting arrest, by Tehama Interagency Drug Enforcement agents around 1:45 p.m.
“We also had information Simmons was selling cocaine,” said TIDE Commander Eric Maher.
During a search of the vehicle agents located 6.6 grams of cocaine and a digital scale hidden under the front passenger seat where Simmons was seated, according to Maher.
The driver of the Honda, Nicole Allene Espinoza, 23, of Corning, was also arrested. During a search of her residence on the 1500 block of Highway 99W, agents located four glass methamphetamine pipes, said Maher.
Simmons was booked into the Tehama County Jail on suspicion of possession of a narcotic controlled substance, sales of a narcotic controlled substance, transporation of a narcotic controlled substance, battery of a peace officer and the warrant charges. Bail was set at $180,000.
Espinoza was also booked into the jail on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, transportation of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. Bail was set at $60,000.
Both remained in custody Friday.
