'Dogs dock Modoc for title shot

A 39-kill barrage and a strong desire to play for their first-ever section championship propelled the Los Molinos High volleyball team to a 25-22, 25-20, 25-17 home win over Modoc on Thursday.

Clarivel Castillo powered 15 kills to the floor and Emily Bailey connected for 13 to help set up today's meeting with top-seeded Hamilton in Red Bluff.

"We played great tonight," said Los Molinos coach Chas Konopka. "This is our first time making it to the section championship in school history, and it is the most wins (35) in a season for the Bulldogs."

Kaitlyn Seaman joined the attack with four kills, with teammates Briana Perez and Katie Morgan both pitching in with three.

Seaman served for a team-best 10 points, and her four aces were also the high mark. Dom Henderson earned nine points at the service line with three aces.

Seaman's 27 assists spearheaded the strong attack, and nothing was going to hit the floor on the defensive side, as the Lady Bulldogs' teamed for 54 kills.

Saturday's championship contest will be the first meeting of the season between the Bulldogs and Braves.
