Bulldogs crown 3 champs in Yuba City
The Los Molinos High wrestling team started its season with the Panu Wrestling Tourney in Yuba City on Saturday, taking five wrestlers and have three bring home championships.
The Bulldogs began in the 113-pound class with Colby Demo dominating the weight with five wins and the first-place finish.
Also earning gold was 145-pounder Diego Munoz, who showed all five of his opponents the ceiling for pins.
Al Torres demonstrated the Bulldogs' strength at heavyweight by putting all four of his opponents on their back to win by falls.
Gage Wabs (120 pounds) and C.C. Wabs (152) also wrestled for the Bulldogs.
Next up for Los Molinos is a dual meet with U-prep and Dunsmuir tonight.
"We may be small (in numbers) but we have worked hard and it shows on the mat this year," said Los Molinos coach Jim Maxwell. "It's nice to go to a tourney and watch your team perform the way you know they can. I'm so proud of them. It was a tough tourney and we really showed some heart when we hit the mat - they didn't back down from some of those big schools out of the Sacramento area."
