Warriors whitewashed by Colusa

The Mercy girls tennis team began the season with a tough league match-up against Colusa last week, losing 9-0.

Rebecca Gasmon won a pair of games in her second set but lost the No. 2 match to Katy Tarr, 6-0, 6-2. Samantha Mondragon was blanked by Colusa ace Madison Forney on the ace court, 6-0, 6-0.

Jessica Li took a game in the opening set from Ashley Cotter, but fell in scores of 6-1, 6-0, and teammates Stephanie Cheek, Mahalee Gaumer and Irlanda Hernandez all dropped a pair of shutout sets.

Cheek and Gaumer rebounded in doubles play, battling Colusa's Mackenzie Bressler and Cotter to a final score of 8-4. Mondragon teamed with Gasmon in an 8-1 loss and Hernandez and Li fell 8-0.
